Profiling machine using diamond wire to cut marble, granite and other ornamental stones, using a 4-axis numerical control system
The machine structure is extremely rigid, and all mobile machine parts travel on chromed and ground columns or on machined and heat-treated guides, all protected by bellows to maintain high cutting precision in time.
The steel structure is protected by anti-corrosion paint, and the flywheel covers are in li-breglass.
Machine travel over the X and Y axes is by brushless drive motors, under the control of a computer which coordinates the machine movement to obtain the required profile. A similar system controls the two pairs of guide wheels.
The profile to be cut can be programmed easily, even by personnel without computer knowledge, by using our Graphic 1 program. This program has two main operating systems:
- Copying a 1:1 shape or drawing, positioned on the machine block-carriage, using a
special sensor in place of the diamond wire:
- Using a digitizer, connected either to the machine, or to a user office PC.
The linear speed of the diamond wire can be varied from 0 to 40 m/sec as to the stone type, under the control of an Inverter. The cutting speed is between 0 and 999 cm/h, and reduces automatically in the presence of corners in the profile. This helps to ensure that surfaces are smooth and can be easily polished.
The diamond wire is tensioned using an “open circuit” hydraulic system; the wire tension can be adjusted from 0 to 800 kg. so both normal and spliced wires can be used.
The block carriage on the RW 1600 has a loading of 13 tons, while the RW 2100 and 2600 can accommodate 25 ton blocks.
